Mini-Gatherings
What is the purpose of Mini-Gatherings?
To grow individuals in our relationship with God through discipleship, fellowship, ministry and prayer.
What is a Mini-Gathering?
Mini-Gatherings are small groups of eight to 15 individuals who meet weekly in someone’s home, coffee shop, park, etc. for Bible Study, prayer, accountability and fellowship and ministry.
Mini-Gatherings are the best places for sustained life change to take place. People will study the Bible together and discuss issues and challenges of life. People will also pray together, minister to each other. It is our desire to see strong bonds of friendships develop through Mini-Gatherings. We cannot do the Christian life alone. We need each other. Practically speaking, there is no way that the pastor, staff and elders can minister to everyone who attends The Gathering. That is why we place a high value on our small groups.
What Mini-Gathering best fits me?
You can find a Mini-Gathering that best fits you based on stage of life, day, time and location. Please email us or call Julie Shiroma (625-9355) for more information. Please feel free to visit several Mini-Gatherings before deciding which one is best for you.
What can I expect at Mini-Gathering?
Mini-Gatherings meet for about an hour and a half and the focal point will be the study of God’s Word and seeing how it applies to you personally. There is also a time of prayer where you can pray for each other.
Mini-Gatherings focus on:
Discipleship—Teaching the Bible and applying it to daily life through: Life stories, the Holy Spirit's guidance and encouragement from the group. Mini-Gatherings assist followers of Jesus in our relationship with Him.
Prayer—sharing needs and pray for each other.
Outside of meeting times, people can fellowship with each other and do whatever it takes to build relationships. Also, because of these relationships, people will minister to each other as needs arise.
What materials will be covered at Mini-Gatherings?
Each group will usually focus on one of these:
- Pastor’s Sermon, Manuscript and Study Notes for the week. These notes will include several questions that will help people apply the teachings from the sermon into their lives.
- Bible Studies straight out of the Bible.
- Bible Study Materials from Lifeway and other Christian Publishers with approval from pastoral staff and elder team.
- Topical Studies with approval from pastoral staff and elder team.
- Bible Reading Plan and Journal. Have people read the Bible through a reading plan and journal. When people come to meet weekly, they will share some insights on passages they read and how it applied to their lives.
